carb leaking gas?
just got this hurricane...
noticed a gas smell when i got it home.
I took off the fairing and found the outside right carb drips gas like a leaky faucet.

any advice?
I can't seem t find a hose to blame, so maybe the gasket is old or didn't get put back in by somebody?

RE: carb leaking gas?
Check to see if the gas is ACTUALLY coming from the carb, or from rubber vent tube in between the #3 and 4 (the outside right) carbs.
If the gas is coming from there, then you've most likely got a stuck or cracked float in either the #3 or #4 carb.
If it REALLY is just coming from that one carb (doubt it), then the drain screw or just a nasty float bowl gasket (like said above) are probably it.
Once I just plain forgot to put a gasket on one of my float bowls; sometimes they pop out of there.

RE: carb leaking gas?
I did check the drain screws, so that's not it.
I got my little brother to pull the carbs off for me and open up the float bowls. He says it looks like they were leaking from around the bowls, probably not from the vent tubes. Apparently #4 was full of sludge and had a useless disintegrated o-ring. He took the rest of the bowls off and some of the others already had RTV gunk added to help seal them. The new gasket set will be here this week, along with a new clutch lever. Then I can get around to replacing the brake rotors, lines, pads, etc.
