Default Carb leaking

My carbs are leaking, I was thinking carb bowl gaskets but is there any other way a carberator could leak when you turn the bike on? I want to make sure when I pull the carbs out I find the problem in one try.

yup, could be blow gaskets, fuel tube o-rings between carbs, or a stuck float or bad needle causing it to com out the vents. Most likely bowl gaskets tho. Try using silicone spray on them first as theyre expensive to replace.

ok, but I do know that when I cleaned the carbs a year and a half ago one of the float bowl pins I kind've had to jam it in place because it would'nt go in plus when I yank the gas and let go the throttle sticks for likes a second or 2 before it goes down.

PS: how would silicone spray help seal the carb bowl gaskets?

throttle hover is caused by incorrect fuel/air ratio, could be as simple as setting your air mixture screws properly. If you had to jam a float bowl pin in thats not really a good thing.....did the float still move freely?

Gaskets over time dry out and shrink. Silicone spray will lubricate and absorb into rubber gaskets to help them maintain their elasticity. I use it on mine every time i clean my carbs. Also used my car dealerships as preventative maintenance on weather stripping.

For the most part I think the float moved freely. I'm gonna yank the carbs out monday and take a look thanks for the helpful info.

I'm just updating my progress, I finally got to fixing my carbs figured I'd post my progress so some day it may help someone else. I just basically cleaned them again with Yamaha dip cleaner scraped the gasket mating surface and lightly sanded it as well and put everything back together and it runs strong with no leaks! This time around I listened to you guys and let my carb gaskets sit in silicone spray overnight to keep them healthy. What I think happened was one of the floats weren't connected to the float valve when I reinstalled them, could that be possible?
If not I don't know the exact reason why they were leaking but it's fixed now after a cleaning and a proper reinstall. Thanks a bunch for those who replied this website kicks ***.
