Broken exhaust stud replacements
Hi. I am trying to replace 3 broken studs that are coming off my exhaust manifold. From right to left the 3 studs are broken off as 1. Flush 2. 2mm out 3. Flush and part of the manifold area where the screw sits broke off too.
I was told to use easy outs, a neighbour was going to help but has now become too busy. Can anyone else give me some pointers? I have the replacement parts I just don't know the steps to take to do this repair.
Thank you.

yes i would say easy outs would be your first choice, depending on how they broke. Were you tightening or removing?
most kits of easyouts come with instructions including which size drill bit to use with the applicable easy out. once you have the proper sizes its basically drill and use the easy out applying slight pressure to the tool so it will bite.
If the easy outs fail, you can simply use a tap and dye set and drill out the broken studs and retap the holes. You can either use slightly bigger studs, or heli-coils and the same size studs.
When mine broke off it actually took a part of the threads with it so i drilled deeper, tapped the hole, and used a piece of threaded rod for a stud and a locknut. Worked great, but a pain in the ***. Consider yourself lucky that the small tabs on the head where the stud goes in didnt crack apart as mine did.
