Default Batteries keep dying on my '87 CBR600F !

I recently had a RR go bad,so I had a local shop repair it.Then 8 mos later it failed again.Upon tearing everything down I found they rushed the job leaving the connector for the 3 yellow pulse generator bare on the frame, instead of through the insulator block.Everything was melted and the shop wouldn't honor their work! So,I purchased an Electrosport RR and the connector repair kit.I rewired it and also got a new battery. Two weeks later this brand new battery took a ****.I had been constantly checking the charging voltage while running and before/after every ride with a voltmeter.I was getting 13.4-13.5 all the time! However,2 weeks later this new battery crapped out.So I got a Scorpion AGM.Same thing happened. This battery lasted a month with a new wrinkle. It completely "bulged out" on both sides! I am thinking about getting an "upgraded" Odyssey PC310 hoping that will solve the problem. Before I spend the extra dough, does anyone have any suggestions or has anyone had similar problems with an older CBR? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanx

Interesting, first thing I would have recommended was the r/r. You said you already did that and batteries keep dying, plus one bulged out? That doesn't sound good. Almost like it was overcharging to something to that degree. I would double check the specs on the Electrosport RR to make sure it is compatible with your bike.

Maybe somebody else can chime in here, I'm at a loss.

I had bought an Electrosport R/R and it was charging my battery at about 18-20VDC and ruined the battery. I sent it back to Electrosport and they said it was bad and was going to be redesigned. I bought one from a guy in Oregon and have had no problems since.
It sounds to me that you might be having the same problem. It bulging out like that. Does it make a whistling sound? I think the bulging out is a sign of overcharging as it generates too much gas which has no place to go in a sealed battery. The whistling sound on mine was the gas escaping through some little hole or seam. I would toss the Electrosport unit and buy something else. Here is a link to the place where I bought mine if you are interested. The unit that fits our bike is the VRRPM3-GL1112 http://oregonmotorcycleparts.com/

Have you checked the voltage when your cane is running at 5k or 6k rpm?

It does sound like it is overcharging.
