hey,
I purchased some bar ends.. tried to fit them.. and only the left side worked... The right side looked as if it was missing the threading that the bar end would screw in to... Is there supposed to be some kind of threading on the right side? Can someone maybe take a picture of their right side without a barend?

I am also looking to buy a new chain/sprockets... and I'm looking in my haynes manual and it says size 50(sealed type) what does this mean? All i have been seeing are like 530 520 etc... what should i be looking to buy?

 

The sealed type refers to the chain having a type of o-ring seal to keep the bearings lubricated. Your bike should have (if the gears and chain have not been changed) a 530 chain with 110 links (530-110) and a 44 tooth rear sprocket and a 15 tooth front sprocket (this is what came stock). What you buy depends on what you want the bike to do. If you just need to replace a worn chain/sprocket set, and are happy with the performance of your bike, go back with a stock setup. If you want to pep her up a bit, you can start changing sprocket sizes (go with a larger rear sprocket or a smaller front sprocket to lower the gear ratio) to give it more grunt and quicker acceleration. As far as the 520 chains, they are just a little narrower chain, but are supposed to be just as strong as a 530, only lighter (and lighter is faster). E-bay has some great deals on chain/sprocket sets. I'll post you some links to a stock setup and a 520 "Quick Acceleration" kit (the one I have). They are way cheaper than any catalog or bike shop I have found.

***By the way, whatever you do. No matter how much money you think you'll save. Never replace your chain with a standard, non sealed chain. They just won't last. Sorry to be so long winded. Hope this helps. I'll try to snap some pics of my bars without the ends. You should have an aluminum threaded insert in there. Later
