Default Do I need bar ends?

Are bar ends functional in some way? I see a lot of closed end grips which made me wonder. Also, I'm missing one and would like to know if I really should replace it.

They protect your clip-ons in the event of a tip over and also can add weight to the end of you bars to reduce vibrations while riding...hope that helps

+1, closed grips are for dirt bikes.

Thanks for the info. It seems the part is only $15 so I suppose I'll pick one up.

While we're on this topic, can anyone recommend a good set of grips. Preferably some with alot of cushioning.

* Rizomo. Driven also has some nice new ones. Their diamond grips are cheap and decent as far as cushyness.
