Another CBR Found
Hi all,
I ran across another CBR and couldn't pass it up.
It's a 1990 that the guy was selling for parts because it didn't run. Hadn't been on the road for 10 years and sitting in his shed.

It's actually pretty clean, but missing the side fairings.
I pulled the carbs and they were a mess. Had to throw away the float needles they were stuck solid. Crankcase was full of old gas and oil. Did a bit of work and got it running.

Needs a bit more work and could be a rider.

Is that silo poured concrete? I built silo's when I was a much younger man. They weren't poured though, about a billizon 80lb staves.
Oh, nice bike. :-) I wish I could find a project like that. Where I live everybody is very proud of their bikes, no matter the condition.

Okay, here's the best part. $300 USD. Crazy.
I think these old concrete silos around here were segments of the circle and then bound together with very heavy metal strapping. They were common in the 50's and 60's.

Thanks everyone. We need to keep these bikes on the road. Just trying to do what I can to that end. Plus they are fun to work on and tough as nails. They can sit for years and come back to life pretty easy. I'm getting a bit of smoke out of the exhaust on this one but I think it's from sitting so long...probably dried valve seals. It needs to run for a while to really know. It sounds really strong so will scope it and do compression and leak down test to be sure.
Here's a video after a little more tuning and the air filter on.

It's running pretty good.
