My bike keeps showing oil when I come to a stop for a split second I think it's time for an oil change I've done plenty of oil changes on cars but not on a bike, doesn't seem difficult at all but what oil should I buy and how many quarts ty again I think ima start my conversion in reverse, back first seems lil cheaper that way to start out and still can ride, only issue I have is I don't know how to weld but I got everything else and I love to alter all my cars tks for the help Dennis keep sane and know we like ur work

All the oil change info is in the shop manual. There is a sticky on the forum to download the manual.

Type of oil is a subject that will get tons of different opinions. I tend to buy the high quality motorcycle oils 20-50W, but you can use others and they will work fine.

I appreciate the positive comments and am just chomping at the bit to start putting the RR bike together. Most of it is sitting in my dining room driving me nuts. Been working on my Norton Commando restoration also...both of them are ready to be assembled.

If you have 600RR parts the 1000 parts are not the same. You would need all 1000 or all 600 parts.

Parts required will be based on what you are trying to do. In order to mount the tail you need the 2 black plastic pieces that fit by the tank because these set the angle of the tail.

Hooking up lights requires matching Hurricane wiring to RR. All the wires are there just have to "splice" RR into the Hurricane harness. Again, shop manual shows wiring...and you need the RR wiring diagram.

Your shop manual should be next to you at all times...most important tool in your tool box.

Before I make the mistake of spending 80 bucks down the drain I need the headlight wire harness from the rr to plug into my bike to power lights correct?

Look at the picture link below. This is from page 7 of this thread. The black piece is in the middle of the picture. It fits between the seat, tank and frame to fill that area. This is critical because it sets the angle of the tail. The fit of these parts at the tank and seat is the start point for the tail. If you read the thread and the explanation, I talk about waiting for these parts before I could start the mods for the tail. Are you reading the thread? It tells you what you need and how to do it.

You need the plugs from the RR for the lights to splice them in to the Hurricane. If you have to buy a used harness to get them...that's one way.

As far as bolts, I used regular bolts from the hardware store to hold things together until I got everything figured out. The fairing bolts are expandable rubber so they should not go on until you are finished...they sell the kits on Ebay. Also quick release ones are available.
