All blackbird speedos are electrical ( not cable )

There are three types of cluster.

Early cluster - carb bike - analogue gauges - 97 & 98

Mid cluster - injection bike - analogue gauges - non catalist exhausts - 99 to 2001

lastest cluster - injection bike - digital gauges - catalist exhausts - 2001 & later

people have changed the clusters around but you need parts of the loom and some sensors changing to do it.

Best bet is to find the correct digital cluster for your bike.

 

ok, thanks so much, any other input is welcome. i think this plan i have to trade might come together.

 

so i have found the air intake tubes online but i cant find the pieces that are attached to the inside of the upper cowl, the pieces with the metal mesh. in the honda parts fitch its #9. you can see it in the diagram but, when you scroll down the number nine is skipped. im thinking from the factory these pieces are sold attached to the upper cowl and not seperatly. anyway, its hard to find them on ebay because i dont know what the part is called. any body know?

 

I see what you mean there Brent. I would contact your local dealer and see if they can steer you in the right direction. They don't come with the upper cowl. If you bought one of those you'd get the bare cowl and that's all. They sell each and every part separately. I ordered the water pump drain bolt the other day and I also had to order the little washer that goes on it separately.

 

It looks like the grills are part of the air ducts.

not just the grill, it seems to be some kind of little air box or something thats inside the cowl. in the parts fitch it looks like one piece, then you attach the air tubes into this . im just guessing til some who knows exactly what it is chimes in.
