OK HERE'S the problem i was just crusing and my speedo went from 55 to 0 back up to 55 and so forth... it does it some times and sometimes not. i check the speed sensor seem ok. the rectifier / regulator is putting out a 116 degree reading on my temp gun. is this what the problem is?its driving me nuts please help... thanx alot

 

Its time for a new speedo cable

 

Would be a great idea if the blackbird had a speedo cable - haha

The blackbird uses a speed pulse generator and is wired up to the speedo.

Check the connection on the back of the clocks - i managed to loosen mine when i was fighting with the dip beam bulb in the headlight.

Next check would be the earth on the clocks followed by the speed pulse wire itself

Another thought - Have you fitted a HID conversion ? - make sure the ballast box is over on the right hand side of the bike as you sit on it - they can sometimes interact with the bikes electronics.
