Tail fairing repair...please help
Hi everyone..I recently purchased a damaged 2004 cbr 1000rr tail fairing. It has a couple cracks going from the right vent to the passenger seat section. My original plan was to fiberglass the bottom and use resin on the top....but the fiberglass doesnt seem to want to bond with it....when the tail arrived there was allot of epoxy on the inside, this didnt bond either it just broke off when I flexed it...and the fiberglass just pulled up...Im really lost on what to try next...has anyone used fiberglass on these?
I do not have any experience with fiberglass, but you can go to a local store and buy some plastic epoxy. This stuff is very strong. I used it to fix a hole in my washing machine tub and it has held for over 2 years now.
I am not saying that this is better than fiberglass, but if that isn't working for you, then this is an option.

i have some epoxy here..ill try putting a small dab on and seeing if it bonds...i forgot to use acetone to clean the surface before applying the fiberglass...allthough i roughed it up enough i wouldnt think that would matter that much....it may be because of the low temp? i left it in my garage to cure and its pretty cold out there...prolly below freezing..ill try letting it cure in the laundry room
ok..the epoxy failed even more than the fiberglass.....chipped off like candy.........it looks like lots of fiber glass would be the best bet...unless anyone has any other ideas?
