He probably means both. Most people that ride thier bikes spend thier money on performance parts. Usually the chrome adds alot of weight, is a pain to clean and you will spend more time cleaning than riding. If its not a show bike, you should concentrate on performance upgrades.

Is there a reason you want it lowered? if you can touch on it now, it is better off with the factory geometry for handling. Lowering the bike will upset the ballance and give you ground clearance issues. If its just the look you like, I'd leave it stock height. I lowered my wifes bike, but that was due to her only being5'3" and she is only 105lbs, so her holding the bike with one leg wasnt gonna cut it. But I do remember driving after the lowering, and it did upset it. Ground clearance was a huge issue while cornering hard.

If you do go thisroute,Just be ready for the people that build thier bikes to ride, probably wont approve. A friend of mine has his GSXR all chromed out, and we rag on him senseless.... probably more than we should,...but, its what he wants...

But again, if this is what you like, do it. Dont let me or anyone deter you. But I'm guessing your looking for input before you put down some money. So thats mine.

IMO, lowering it by 2" is OK. I had to lower mine due to my short height. But stretching it hurts its performance a lot. I met a guy with lowered and stretched GSXR1000 on MSF advanced course. That thing really coundn't corner at all.
