Default slip on pipe install questions

I just installed a two bros carbon fiber slip on exhaust on my 05 cbr1000 everything seems 2 run fine but i have few questions. First, is the heat shield under the tail nessesary? i dont havethe stock fender any more and the heat shield metal sticks out on the sides of the exhaust and looks horrible. second, the heat shield the covers where the pipe meets header did not seem 2 fit right, i had to bend it a little to fit, is that normal?

I've got a carbon TBR on my Concours 14 and it doesn't seem to get hot so I'd say that you could do without the heatshield. I've got a Micron on my 1000RR and it DOES get hot so I left the heatshield on.

Thanks for the info. I kind of assumed that it would be ok to take the heat shield off, due to the fact that the pipe is carbon fiber. I ve heard of people putting a heat tape type of thing in place of the heat shield, so i might give that a try. Im preaty new to this stuff so i just want to make sure im doing the right thing. Would u happen to know what the deal is with right side heat shield not fitting right? is that normal? is that one needed?

That's probably something you'll have to live with. Aftermarket systems sometimes don't fit quite right. For instance, the Jardine slip on for a underseat RR is slightly crooked and there's nothing you can do about it. Does the heatshield bolt up?

The small one on the right side by the foot peg and rear brake has one bolt on the top i believe, and on the bottom kind of slides into a bracket thats on the header. I bent it out because it didnt fit right. Im assuming i could cut it or tweak it to make it fit better. For the one under the tail i was told you can cut that so the metal doesnt hang out the sides. But this person said a good rule of thumb is to leave as much heat shield as possible.

I would just trim it. It keeps the heat separated.
