I've come across a potential deal on an '08 SC59 and I know that model year had a laundry list of potential issues and a recall or two depending on where it was (apparently some items were recalled in the UK but not the US?). If I get it I'll be torn between making either it or my SC50 into a track bike,

What all should I be on the lookout for on the '08 1k... Current owner said it has issues staying running at times so I'm thinking something electrical either shorting out or needing to be replaced. I know some had ignition switch issues, some rectifier issues... What issues have y'all had and what was the fix?

 

The current owner is telling you "The bike is unreliable, and I can't work out why so I am selling it". I would walk away unless you're getting it for a steal.

It might be electrical - but electrical problems are usually a go/no-go situation. Electrical problems rarely masquerade as occasional glitches. My bet is going to be fuel or air.

 

His 954 is doing the same thing from what he says... I told hom a few things to check and he's not mechanically inclined so it didn't get him very far. His proposal was giving me the 1k in exchange for getting his 954 back to normal. I''m VERY inclined to take the offer, if he didnt live just over an hour and a half away and if I had any free time whatsoever.
