Default RE: Repsol question ?

I have a Repsol and have had the same prob. I know other Repsol owners who have had the same thing as well, so you are not alone. This is what i did, first i stirpped my chain of all the factory wax/lube. I used kerosene, soak the chain and let it sit for a couple of mins. I then took a stiff brush and cleaned the chain, the old stuff came right off i then wiped down the chain real well. After this I then lubed the chain with the Pro Hinda lube I think its the best. For the rims to clean I used the Honda Pro polish, spary it on and let it sit then GENTLY wipe off, a lil' still did show on the rag but, my whole point is once, the chain is clean and a good lube is used, little to none flys off. I literally dont have to clean my rims. Another thing, a little will fling off right after you clean your chain, may be some of the residual cleaner. But after a good ride, wipe down the rim and that should do it. Only lube the chain every 300 miles or so and lube a heated chain and let it dry. hope this helps.

Thanks for the post, man... Yeah, I re-discovered pro honda lube a few weeks ago. I use it on my quad all the time but felt it wasnt near the quality my RR needed compared to the expensive motorex stuff from sweden... Damn was I wrong..... Anyways, after brousing other forums I am finding that the paint on the rims is a factory defect on repsols, and after some time they will turn more yellow and ultimately with silver spots. It seems to be a warranty (did I spell that right?) claim issue.

really? I was hoping that wasnt the case, i thought about calling Honda to at least document that I was having some problems with the paint on the rims, I am gonna call them and find out what the story is the last thing i need to be doing is having rims re-coated or replaced. I will keep ya posted. -DB

I just cleaned my wheels today. I haven't had any issues with the color coming off. I use Turtle Wax Emerald Series Premium Detailer to clean and shine my wheels. I put a coat of Mequires paste wax on them when I brought the bike home and use the detail spray after every ride that I do. The detail spray cleans the lube off, wet the cloth good with the spray, and gently wipe. I use a seperate, clean cloth to wipe the haze off from the spray and it leaves a nice slick surface. Just my $0.02

it down with polish like pledge etc in between, only cos i cant seem to get hold of this wonderous honda polish
everyone keeps raving about.
