Default Red light coming on

Hey guys I have a 2004 1000rr. When the bike was running, the red light came on two times (solid not flashing). The first time it went off after I let off the throttle. The second time it came on and stayed on until I shut the bike off and restarted it.

When I turn the key and the bike is still off, the red light comes on, I don't remember if that's normal or not but I don't remember it ever coming on.

Any idea what could be causing this?

If you are refering to the oil indicator, it means you have low oil pressure. The light being on with just the key on and not running is normal as you dont have any oil pressure, so the light is on. It should go off as soon as the bike starts and builds pressure.

I'm not sure why it would be on during riding though. It could be a faulty sensor or the engine is actually experiencing low oil pressure which is not good. If it comes on again during your ride, it might be worth a trip to the dealership and have them check the pressure switch to make sure its functioning properly.

For anyone else reading this, check your battery cables. Loose battery cables caused it.
