heres a question for all you very informative honda guru's. does anyone happen to know the top speed of a stock 2006 Honda CBR 1000RR. If your answer comes from you having topped yours out, pinned in 6th baby . did you have a corrected speedo? speed limiter removed (if it after speedo is corrected the bike will even break 186 , doubtful me thinks)? and is your bike stock besides removal of speed regulators and corrections of speedo? what mods if answer is no?

also, does anybody know if adding horsepower and torque to your bike will raise your top speed. and im not looking for a sprockets answer. cause i dont want to sacrifice low end to raise top end.


btw. my first post on this site. w00t!! been reading you alls forum for the past week. seems to be some fairly intelligent people on this site. although i wont list any names *cough*, dont want to shoot anyones ego up the roof haaa. interested in gettin a cbr, but their is a lot of competition out there. ive owned 2 gixxer 750's and a 96 gixxer 1100. 1100 was ***** to DEEE WALL!! so not new to the motorcycle way of life. but have never owned anything besides suzuki. whom always run into electrical problems, maybe just happened to me. but they were always EXCELLENT performers.

 

First off, anyone who says their 1000RR will break 186 stock is bull****ting you. As Im sure you know, all bikes are governed to 186 now. Top speed of an 06 is around 178 or so. The 04 was 175 as tested by Sport Rider. It takes a **** load of power to nab 200 if thats what your shooting for.

 

yeah. my assumption was 170 mph, but 178 sounds very nice. thanks for info. do you know about the horsepower and torque increasing top speed with stock transmission and stock sprockets?

 

Increasing hp and tq will help accel you to your top speed quicker but you will still be limited by gearing, redline, and governers. Haven't ridden a 06 1KRR so don't know how close you come to the new redline in 6th gear on a stock bike.
