Default PCIII question?

Hey guys..

I just put a R-77 yosh slip-on on my '08 1000. It runs pretty good, but something is still a miss.

So I talked to my local shop about getting a PCIII for it.

1st off. . I have credit there I can use to buy one but they want $310 plus tax to buy it. Then they have to load the map I need into it & install it. I have found it at a website for as cheap as $259, but I don't know if thats with the map already installed or not. . so do yall think I should pay more from my shop to get it or try the online store?

2ndly. . The girl who runs the service dept said even with the right map installed there will still be spots in the rpm range that will need to be manually worked out on the PCIII. . so I ask. . 1st of all is this true? . & 2nd if so will it really be worth the time, trouble & cost to have all this done? . because I still have to pay for the labor & record the rpm's where it runs rough or stalls so they can fix it.

I'm still leaning toward the hassle, because my two friends who put an exhaust on their bikes, then later installed the PCIII. . said the bike was "night & day" after having their's installed.

Let me know what yall think & as always thanks for the advice!

There are numerous different answers to all this,

Will a PCIII smooth things out? Yes

Does the shop have to install it? Definitely not. Its an easy install.

Is the map preloaded? Not from dynojet. You can download it from Yosh's site or Dynojets site

Will there be some places that would work better with dyno tune? Absolutely, but it is usually around 300 bucks for a dyno tune.

Overall I would say go for it. or you can get a juice box. Both will smooth things out, but I prefer the PCIII, its more common, and has all the features of the Juice Box for a better price.
