Overheating?

Overheating?
Okay folks I searched but didn't find the same problem to the degree I'm having.
05 1krr - bone stock.
I don't commute with the thing but the last couple times I've been out with it, I've hit some serious traffic...the kind where it takes 30 min to go 1 1/2 miles in 80* temps. My coolant is at the appropriate level and the fan kicks on ~220 but once it reaches 235 and I'm still not moving, the temp will slowly creep up to 252+!!..at which point the light starts blinking at me. When I get moving again, it'll settle back down and at cruising speeds, it seems normal...~185-196. Is there something wrong w/ this thing or do I just need to avoid this kinda traffic? I've heard that cbrs and hondas in general normally run hotter but this seems excessive. Any help or insight would be appreciated.
thanks - chris

RE: Overheating?
One thing I've noticed about the RR-when the fans kick on, the temp doesn't go down. I've waited to see if it would, and sometimes it stays the same, sometimes it actually goes higher. When the fans kick on with my RC51, the temp goes down slowly, but it goes down. Of course, if they don't start puking coolant, then they're really not "overheating" anyway.

RE: Overheating?
i have an 05 1000rr and my normal running temperatures are around 179 while moving and no higher than 225 while stationary during heavy traffic like u mentioned....my fan kicks on way before 225 degrees. matter of fact ive never seen a temp higher than 225. and this is during temps of 90+ degrees outside in pure stop n go traffic. i monitor this all the time, and while my bike was purely stock (not that its far from that now - still have same results).

RE: Overheating?
yeah this is normal i have had my temps at 265 the other day. i started my bike after i punched out of work and started talking to one of my employees and it was a long time and i had almost forgot that my bike was still on. next thing you know i checked the engine was still running and it was at 265 dude i was trippin and i also had a temp light on blinking at me so i killed the engine real quick and waited 5 mins and rolled off and as soon as i hit about 15 mph it started to calm down slowly, then i hit the freeway and it was all good.........
