I'm in the market for a new 1000. I have heard that the new (08+) are eating oil. Not all of them, but some. I tried the search engine, but soon as you type in oil into that thing, you better have a lot of time on you hands to find what you are looking for.

 

try 1000rr.net they have a 700 page thread about the oil thing, but i'd say 10% or less are having the problem mine is 100% fine.

 

mine is eating it. i have added over a quart the last 1000miles

 

Mine is just fine....im using regular motorcycle oil ...no synthetics...

 

I use the Honda synthetic without moly (orange bottle) and I have no issues with oil consumption. I think there was a certain VIN range that had this problem.
