Default need a shorter kickstand

Since I lowered my '08 1000RR by two inches due to my height, I need a shorter kickstand. I went to several welding places and all of them told me that they couldn't cut and weld it because my kickstand is a cast-alloy. So, I'm looking for shorter kickstand. I might just cut it by .7 inches. Any idea?

There's no reason they shouldn't be able to weld the cast alloy unless they just don't have the proper equipment. Anyone that has a TIG welder should be able to weld it for ya. Just a suggestion though, if you do find someone to do it. Don't have them section a piece out of it to make it shorter. I would cut it to length, then weld the pad back on . You dont want a weld in the middle part of your kickstand.

Also, they sell an adjustabe kickstand. they are not cheap. but here is a link to one company that makes em.
