Default Missed out on the 08 1000rr product update... options?

Hey everyone, just bought a 2008 cbr1000rr and was told by the previous owner that the update had been done. Was talking to my local honda service dept and they told me that it hadn't and that the update expired in January. Can anyone tell me what parts they replaced so that I can look into buying them myself? I already called Honda and they said they couldn't reinstate it. I didn't make a stink but would it be worth calling back in bitch mode?

Also, is it even worth going through the trouble of getting this done? I don't ride hard at all. Thanks.

I believe it was a new clutch basket with a different configuration of the discs.

It was a clutch update, not a recall, so its probably up to you if you want to replace the parts or not. If the clutch it working fine, I think I might hold off. But you may want to do some research and see exactly how many failed. I'm guessing not many failed since it was only an update.

Also, I don't think it affected all 08 bikes, only certain vin numbers. Your bike may have never fallen under the update. Or, the previous owner could have been correct and the dealership that did the work did not file the claim correctly. At this point, your probably only going to know if you pull the clutch cover and have it inspected to see which clutch set up is in there.

As far as making a stink, it won't do any good. It wasn't a recall and only a product update. It won't get you anywhere. But you may be able to get the update kit at a resoonable price if you want to do it.
