If it was a carbed bike I'd suggest checking for a lean condition but a FI system has sensors that tell it how much air is coming in and adjusts fueling accordingly. My 1000RR runs a tad rich with the flapper mod and slip on.

What I am trying to say is that alone the flapper mod is not necessary.
