Default 1000rr my first bike

My first bike is my new 05 1000rr. Everyone told me its too much power blah blah blah. I had zero riding experience. I would say for about 98% of new riders it would be casket but I had the understanding and respect for the power of the bike. If you take it slow and dont push your riding ability then you are good as gold. I love the bike. and one of the best purchases I ever made and cant wait to ride they it was intended.

Congrats on your purchase and good luck learning to ride it correctly. Please take a MSF class if you haven't already and wear your gear 100% of the time. It can and will save your life.

Congrats on the bike! 1000 is such a nice number. Ditto on the MSF course and the gear ... road rash gets old real fast -- you might not die but just wish you had[8D]

I could not imagine riding with out my gear. I see tons of people wearing shoes and shorts and cant stand to look at it. My mother works in the ER so she tells me the horror stories of how the road has to be picked out of your skin. Should i really take the beginner course? I have all the basics down. Is it more street survivel? A little more feedback would be great.

Beginner course? Surely you jest ... I'd been riding 10 years when I finally took the course. It kicked my ***. 3 days of riding, riding, riding, riding and more riding. Ya, all of it was at ludicrously slow speed but the skills obtained will help you with the fast stuff later on. It's all about getting the basics right -- takes less time to learn it the right way than it does to re-learn it cause you did it wrong for 10 years.
