insurance rates - holy $#@!

RE: insurance rates - holy $#@!
Try calling a smaller agency that reps many small specialty insurance companies. I have probably had 50% of the companies over the years and have been back and forth with some of the same companies with different bikes. All becasue they have the best rates for a couple years then change, or I change bikes. Right now I have Auto-Owners Insurance on my 06 1000RR, I am pushing 40 with no points and pay $580, full for the year. Progessive was over $1000.
All those with State Farm do you have your cars or home with them also? This makes a huge difference when I have gotten prices. They have a great policy of cc only rates, they do not look at what the bike is. However if you do not have a car with tem they were way high for me, and there auto insurance was more than i am paying.
Best thing to do is call around, A LOT. It will be your best chance of getting an acceptable price.

State farm is the best, but keep in mind you must have a car or truck already insured. they dont do motorcycle only insurance.
i only own a bike, so i was screwed untill i married and was able to get wifes car on state farm.

it also depends on where you live. if you are in san antonio like me where it isnt a matter of if your bikes gets stolen its a matter of when. they also include into the rates the fact that there is no helmet law and believe it or not that will raise the general rates of everyone.
for a 1000rr and a 600rr through statefarm i pay 200 a month for full coverage

+1 on State Farm. $300 for full coverage/yr on a 2006 1000RR. I also have 2 cars, Boat, and homeowners through them probably why I got such a good deal. Oh and I can only ride the thing 7 or 8 months outof the year here in upstate NY.
