I just bought a 06 1000rr and when Im in 5th and 6th there is a high pitch squeal kinda sounds like a supercharger winding up, in the other gears no sound, anyone know what it might be?

 

Mine does the same thing. Although, its pretty faint. Its noticable, but only between certain rpms. According to a few honda mechanics I've talked with, its just the way the gears mesh. Nothing wrong, just a bit noisy. Im over 18,000 miles and no problems, and its done it since new. Apperantly, all of the 04-07 models do it.

 

My '05 CBR1000RR has a slight whine in 6th, but I don't think it's anything to worry about.

 

there is a mouse in your gearbox and he lives on the 5th and 6th gear rings. when you get there it pinches his tail and is quite painful.
