Default Fork oil level

I fixed my leaking front fork seals using some camera film. Worked great, but now I want to figure out how to get the correct oil level back in the fork. I know 92 mm is the correct air gap without the springs installed, but I would like to know what the air gap should be with the cartridge still assembled and in the fork, because I don't want to disassemble it, and I am not sure how much oil was lost before I did the repair. Both forks were leaking, one side more than the other, so I do not have a reference. Has anyone just topped off there forks without disassembling them and know the correct air gap? I could just guess and leave the fluid level about 2 in. from the top, which would be about 2/3rds of the spec without the springs. Thought I would try this forum first.
