there is a thread on 1000rr.net about it but not really a write up
basically tank rotates up
airbox off
there are two pins on the grate in the front of the bike
pull those take the grate out

slide the intake forward and take the two phillips head screws out holding the two halves together
voila the flap comes off

the gold diaphram rotates out but then you have to plug the hole
i just clipped off the hook and put the diaphram back in

the vacuum canister, solenoid and wires are under the left mid fairing
one vacuum hose goes to the left side of the throttle body and has to be blocked off with a nipple

not the best description but I figured it out and i am an idiot so anyone can do it

He made it sound easy too -- when actually removing it you'll have parts and pieces scattered to the winds[8D] I can't say removing it actually made that much difference over just plugging the hose but I guess it could have. If you ever decide to go with a full exhaust I'd suggest removing the flapper otherwise I'd skip it -- to remove those phillips head screws he mentioned you gotta be some kind of contortionist.

the only reason I did it is because i had to remove the air box to get into the pair valves anyway
IMO i wouldnt have done this if i was not already in there

just pull the hose
off of the diaphram until you want to get to the pairs (backfiring on decel from an exhaust mod)

no power is made over removing the system vs. unplugging the hose. the only added advantage is weight, and you only lose 1-2 lbs. so it's definately not worth the work.

Save up some cash and get an A-Tech intake. Saves alot more weight and adds a few ponies.
