no its NOT gonna void the warranty......the Honda Warranty.....thats illegal.......

it may however void a "dealer-warranty"......some car dealers do that around here....they offer a "free" 100.000 mile warranty but the condition is that you have to have ALL the overpriced work done at their service dept...you miss a service....it voids THEIR warranty

 

true it is called the Magnuson-moss act
basically it says that the dealer has to prove that something you did voided the warranty.
also if the dealer requires a specific part say they tell you that you have to use honda filter then they have to provide it free of charge

I am beginning to wonder what you do for a living??? I can't imagine too many people know about the "Magnuson-Moss" act without going to law school or being tied into legal aspects with their job.

 

All I know is that Baxsoms a good guy, hes definitely one of the more constructive posters here. Anyway, sounds like they're quoting you on the entire service of checking everything stated in the manual on top of the oil change. However, I'm pretty sure they don't even do that since its a Honda. They will just change the oil if you pay for all that so I would do it yourself. I'm sure there are dozens of people here willing to walk you through it if need be. Cheers.

 

I would keep you reciept for the oil and filter though. If you don't get servicing done @ The dealership, and somthing goes wrong, they sometimes want to see proof that you did the maintance. So, just jot it down in your owners manual and keep your oil reiciept in your "bike" folder.

at my dealership itwas approx 160+ tax grrrrrrrrrrrrr. peace of mind checkin over the bike. throttle adjustments, clutch, make sure the engine's still bolted on and what have you.

 

i get around
i just dont like getting ripped off or seeing other people get ripped off so i research a lot.
i got screwed on a car warranty once because i did all the maintenance myself
and decided it wasnt going to happen again,
just keep all your reciepts and even take pictures if you want
i have a folder in a fire proof safe for each vehicle ( i have 7 to include the bike and 2 jet skis)
documeting each service, after market mod etc and the date it was installed because if one gets dumped or stolen if i can prove it had the mod state farm will cover it

i dont trust the dealer as far as i could throw him in most cases,
when i got my first bike ( a very underpowered 03 ZZR600) the first service was free so i figured what the hell,
throttle had 8mm of slop in it, tail was scratched, the tank vent tube was detached, and the dust cap on one of my wheels was gone
decided at that point to learn to do it myself.

as far as oil
i pay 50 a gallon for repsol 4T racing full synth and 12 for a K&N filter
15 mins to drain, refill and re safety wire
