Default Exhaust wrap????? Thermo Tec

Anyone know about Thermo Tec insulating Exhaust wrap? I was wondering what the benefits were and if it would be beneficial to wrap the headers more then one time. I don't want to use it if it damages the Exhaust system (hot spots). Please let me know. Thanks

thermotec is great, wrap it only once. The only thing is it made need some tuning because the exhaust temp change is quite a lot

Thaks for the advice. Do you know what would happen if I wrapped it twice? Just curious.

Not sure but its not necessary. You definitely won't have room for two layers once you get to where the pipes start getting close together approaching the collector.

Make sure the wrap doesn't touch the plastics -- they will transfer enough heat to melt them.

Make sure the wrap isn't anywhere that oil or anything flamable can get onto it. If even alittle oil drops on them, it can cause a fire.

found out that Thermo tec makes a high heat coating to seal the pores to minimize the penetration of harmful liquids such as oil.

Some people have good experience with that stuff. I got so frustrated with it on the turbo Busa that I just fabbed a dump pipe and ran it out the bottom. Used to confuse the hell outta people -- they'd hear me coming but couldn't figure out where the exhaust was [8D]

here is a company that has an extended line of heat protection products for motorcycle applications. they offer an exhaust wrap kit that has everything you will need for the install. there is also a nice .pdf with directions and pictures of an install. this stuff worked great for me.
