i think i use the engine too much. my sister was behind me and she said it was tough to follow me because my brake lights don't come on until almost a complete stop. but does anyone use the rear brake? i hardly ever but my friend likes to use both when he brakes

Engine to go Brakes to stop

I do down shift as i slow and blip the throttle but the brakes is what i use to slow down or stop, if you use just the engine aside from anything else you risk locking the rear tyre up.

Primarily the brakes (say 75% of it from front, 25% from rear) combined with some help from the transmission while downshifting. But the brakes always come first.

I always downshift and then a little front to stop. Probably not a great habit....but I never use my rear brake...(unless going down a wet hill).
