Coolant?
anyone have coolant leaking out their overflow and splashing on the bottom right fairing like me? I probably loose a couple tbsp every ride i take... i don't know why either? bad cap? it's not overheating or anything either.
also, anyone ever change their coolant? i've done hundreds of cars but never a bike, is the mix and coolant basically the same?

It sounds like its just overfilled....? Did you fill up the overfill bottle recently...? if you did, make sure it is filled to just Under the full mark....cause once the radiator heats u,p itll transfer alittle overflow to the coolant bottle and when it cools down, it goes back into the radiator....So the overfill bottle should never be Overfull...must beABOVE than low mark butUNDER full mark....
that used to happen to me too, but it hasn't for a while, and my level is fine, so are my caps.It should stabilize itself once its at the propper level.
The mix should be no less than 40% and no more than 60% of coolant to water mix, as per the '06 owners manual...

i haven't touched the coolant level once and i boughtthe bike brand new. it could not have been overfull from the factory because i woulda noticed the dripping by now. i'm not sure where the level is at because you have to remove the fairing to see that and i've been too lazy, i was just wondering i guess if anyone else has had the problem
You dont have to take the fairing off.....06/07 that is...just put on a race stand or if you dont have one ask some one to hold the bike upright(not leaning to one side)...then goto the front of the bike and crouch down, look on your left under the headlight behind the front wheel....you will see half the coolant bottle(or just enough to see the two lines.... see the two lines? it has to be in between the lower and upper(full).... not above the upper(full)...
What he said ^. But it really sounds like your coolant is overfilled a bit. Now I don't know where you live, but here in the NE we've been having a crazy heatwave, and the higher temps outside can cause issues of coolant boiling over more easily.
Yeah its kinda normal for some to spew out from time to time. Mine does the same thing every once in awhile and I check the level and its fine. I've also seen many that I've worked on have the dreaded whitish green stains on the lower fairing. Nothing major to worry about. When you change your coolant, you should flush the system. Drain the coolant from the radiator and the overflow bottle and the engine. Fill the system up with straight distilled waterand run it up to operating temperature and let it cool down and drain all the water out. Then fill it back up with whatever coolant you want. A 50/50 mix is ideal. Honda puts out premixed coolant that is a 50/50 mix as does several other companies.
Yep this is what I was about to say too ^^.....
When Ive been wheelling alot like a few hours down at the local spot.....
She tends to spew abit and it goes all over the lower belly pan....where it says Honda.....I give it a wipe and all is cool the next day....Also it might be the angles of being on one wheel for periods of time that make it come out....
