Don't you read magazines? The gixxer is better at just about everything. More power, better power delivery, slipper clutch, gear indicator, turn signals integrated into the mirrors, better suspension, less weight. The honda has marginally better build quality ( I think they just say that because Honda's have that reputation of being sooooo reliable, my personal experience says otherwise) and it may also have better styling, but that is subjective. The honda does have lower gearing though and has more thrust until the high rpms, where it has to shift into second while the gixxer is still pulling in first. The hydraulic clutch on the Honda is also harder to modulate than the cable actuated clutch on the gixxer, making the honda harder to launch off the line.

ok heres the scoop on the 06 CBR vs. 04 Gixer1k. The gixer set up is as follows : a slip on yosh, PCIII and custom map. My bike has a yosh slip and PCIII with a map from Dyno Jet. Both riders approx 210lbs, 85degrees, 70% humidity , 200' above sea level.
no racing in 1st at all due to the wheelie **** of both bikes..... that more rider and not the bike as everyone on these bikes know
2nd gear starting in the 7-9RPM range, CBR wins every time and and gixer never able to make up the diff, stopped before 6th gear
3rd gear 7-9RPM, Gixer starts pulling away everytime and then changes to 4th gear, CBR still in 3rd passes gixer and gixer never able to make up the diff.
theses senerios were done several times and all have nearly the same results.
also the 04 gixer raced a stock 05 and bet it hands down......
ruling: CBR out edges the 04 gixer by narrow margin, however if the gixer gets the jump your not gonna be able to make up the diff and vise verse.
Good luck and i have a 06 zx10 lined up next..... and i dont think anyone has to sweat the R1..... let me know what ya think.

I have an 06 1000rr that runs 184mph gps with bolt ons.. the honda holds its own against similar modded gixxers til you get up into 6th gear. the gixxer is more aerodynamic and you just cant touch that ram air setup that the honda lacks.. the other issue is that the honda doesnt rev even close to the gixxer. the head on the gixxer with ti valves is no joke stock..

All that i have HEARD or READ is that the gsx1kr is a straight wheelie machine and it's a bitch to keep the nose down. Also that the power is more abrupt rather then the smoothness of the honda. When i race my buddy on his R1 and me on my 6 i get the launch but after i tap into second he goes by....I would love to try both out for a day.

yeah..i had e same experience too!! getting off the line is no problem against the 04 R1..got him on both stock and geared CBR1k 04.. e prob is when i got into 3rd..e bloody R1 came past me with ease!![:@]...be reminded that both of us shift gears without the clutch..and i can clearly remember that e R1 put out 146hp and mine 145hp stock..still after all the mods,my 04 still can't get him all e way...[:'(]

Rider is most important. Buddy (threecpete here on the board) has the 1000rr, another buddy has the K6. both bone stock
Roll-ons 3cpete gets him a bit...but the faster it gets the less advantage he has I believe.
A long roll on from 6th from normal speeds going uphill finally showed the gixxer's might.
But rider skill and weight matters.
They did roll-ons for 1/2 the day and even swapped bikes so he would know for sure. I was there but, naturally, they couldn't keep up w/the 12R ;-)
