When bending the elbow try letting them drop down or in instead of out away from you so that you are unable to support any body weight with your arms or hands. This will force you mid section and legs to support you while riding without having to think about it

hmm that only happened to me when I fisrt started riding, I think your body just has to get used to it. I remember getting off the bike and trying to grab the keys out the ignition (funny stuff)
