RE: 600RR vs. 1000RR
I really don't think you can go wrong with the 1krr...I have had mine just over a week and the bike just continues to amaze me...its really a point and shoot machine; it wants to turn and it wants to go fast, but it behaves well we you just can't do that. I hope you get which ever bike you choose soon. I waited a really long time, thinking, looking, comparing, and thinking so more. Wished I'd have made my move sooner, although I'd have probably paid more; I wasted three months of some of the best riding weather here contemplating a decision that i just made too hard. I am 100% completely satisfied with my decision, and I'm sure you will be too.
Let everyone know what you get!

I am in the same boat. I was leaning towards the 1k but the 6 has alot of power too. After reading the replies I am puttin my money on the 1k. My next problem, what color to choose. Im liking the blue and yellow, but like the traditional red/black is callin me. The gray is pretty sweet too.... DAMN!!!!!!

RE: 600RR vs. 1000RR
my condolences....its bad news when any bretheren die, regardless of what they ride. And you are right, safe or not, everyone still is at risk by our 4 wheeled road mates. But I really believe that you are just as liked to be killed doing other normal things as you are on your bike. When you think about what you hear on your local news, there are more car fatalities, murders and natural cause deaths than there are motorcycle fatalities or even accidents. That doesn't mean we aren't tempting fate, and if you do start riding, you have to avoid squidly behavior, which will definitely help you stay on two wheels. Riding a bike, at least for me, is something I am passionate about, but not foolish. I respect my bike and the freedom it gives me, but I don't fear it. They say that if you fear something enough, you can make it happen and I truly believe that. You also have another issue right now, and that is your girlfriend, and its sounds like what she thinks matters to you, so out of respect, you might consider at least holding off. I doubt she's is any mind set to bless your new purchase, and really, she shouldn't have to even think about that right now. Please let her know that we 'all' are sorry for her loss. Let her heal.
