Default 230 temp?

ok, well idk about you guys but im really feeling the heat right now from the summer. Idaho got up to 101 yesterday and i still took my bike out riding (well was going to the lake to jump in then do the air dry techinque haha) but when traveling to CDA lake, i kind-of wondered why my legs were burning - i mean i never felt the heated air go down that far (to the ankles).. so i kind-of pulled off to the side and let it run to see when the fans would come on and how high the temp gauge would go.. The fans would turn on (if you are in gear) at 219-220 temp and my bike temp idling would hit 230.. I forgot to bring up my manual from Vegas but i thought i remember it shouldnt get over 225 or something is wrong.. Anyone know? i did just change the oil (well about 400 miles ago) went with 10-40 i believe (i was trying to get repsol 15-40) I might be wrong on the 10-40, it's a brand product right from Honda themself (non sysnth).. but that's all i can think of - I mean i can understand the heat and everything, it's been 3 years since i rode in the middle of summer on a bike and dont remember how my other bike handled.. but this is my baby and want to make sure everything is fine ya know?

oh yeah, 4th of july - i popped my first wheelie, it was only like 2-3 inches from the feel of it but my handlebars went loose (i was like "WTF?!?!") then i felt it lay back down and rode off into the night haha.. just thought i would add that muhaha

thanks guys in advance.. be safe

He speaks the truth, from AZ my self, never seen my bike ('07 1k) or other get above 229, I hit 237 a couple days ago, NOT FUN. Your fine, if you get that worried, lane split, get air to circulate. I did the same. Got pulled over, told the cop I was getting dehydrated and had faint orange eye sight, was escorted to the gas station to take a breathier.

230 is nothing while sitting still

if it hits 230 while you are moving at highway speed then you have a problem

yeah it's idle.. also a few times i smell gas around my tank (no i got my tank closed and i didnt over-fill it) but it's usually on the hot days when im waiting at a light, ill just put my body down on the tank and relax for the light (pretty much know every timer on all the lights - also the one that never register a bike that i have to run red) and i will smell fumes, but i figured that was from heat totally. just making sure everything is working fine.. i know the tech that worked on my bike the first time misplaced a few of the bolts when reassembling my bike - the plastic heat-guard from the exhaust on the right side - he had it backwards, so that kind-of scared me.. (like seeing a loose thread on your body part after surgery)

when it is hot you will smell gas from the tank vent hose

next time you ride it hot remember the gas in the tank will expand a little when it heats up

find the vent hose by the shift lever that goes into the tank

you can actually see the gas fumes coming out of it

230 is fine.

last week, weather here in LA hit 117degrees. now, that's very rare here. i was riding my bike around 2pm.while riding it, it goes around 185-195degrees. but when i'm fully stopped. it reaches up to 235.

Does anyone else get a drop of coolant in the overflow tube.My bike has 500 miles and has shown around 210 max on the temp guage sitting in traffic. I have noticed a couple times that there was acoolant drop at the end of the overflow tube.Bought the bike theend ofMay, a left over '06.I have not yet really began to flog it, YET.

I had the same thing happen to me. Talked to a mech. and he said it was normal for new bikes to expel excess coolant fluid within the 1st 700 miles. I now have 2400 miles on my 06 1krr and it hasn't happened again, even tho I'm riding it like a raped ape.
