05 1000 clutch problem help!!!

i have an 05 1000 and the bike used to start in gear if i hold the clucth in.... but now if the bike is in gear and i try to start it.... it wont start what can be the cause of this problem.

From:

There's a switch on the side stand that's most likely the problem. It's there so you don't ride off with it down.
