Default 87 1000 hurricane problem!

I have a 1987 Honda hurricane. This bike has been running great for the last 4 months. Recently it will start up cold just fine and ride great. Then after it warms up if i park it for a couple of mins and try to start it up again it's sluggish. Sometimes it stalls or just won't start at all for a couple of mins. I don't know a lot about bikes but it's seems as if the engine is getting too much gas. Not sure if that's it or why that would have just started to happen. Also if I ride in stop and go traffic it just wants to die after a few mins. It's sad. The guy I bought the bike from said the engine was bored out an additional 100 ccs and it was jetted to match. I don't know if it's true or if that would be part of the problem. Also when I went for a long ride in shorts I got burns on my legs from the heat of the engine. Is that normal? Sorry this is so long. Please help if you can.

well first thing i'd recommend doing is check your spark plugs, check for proper gapping and and check for coloring, i'd try to run it just before you check the plugs ( when yo have the starting issue and see if you have any wet plugs, if you have a wet plug its not burning all its fuel, possible causes are weak spark, float height or too rich, when you have the plugs out you could verify the turn out on the fuel/air screws ( write down the turns for each, turn them in all the way then turn each back out to how many turns you documented...should be something like 2 turns out or 2 1/2 pending altitude) on the carbs, which is more work but saves you in the long run...are you sure you got burns from the engine? whats the heat gauge showing when your running? i ask this as when you bore a engine it takes down the walling of the cylinder, thus causing more heat. ive got a 1049cc weisco big bore kit in my hurricane have yet to see a 100cc over bore so possible its heating the engine a fair bit more...i gave you a lot of things to look at, when you check out the above pop back and let us know so if we need to provide further steps we can hope this helps you

My bikes temp gauge never says it's over heating.

Yeah I have learned not to ride in shorts. The engine won't burn me through my pants. I just don't understand why it would start up fine when it's been sitting cold for a while but if it's warmed up and then I shut the engine off it won't want to start back up. It seems like somehow it's getting too much gas and that's causing the engine to become flooded.
