Default Yet another exhaust question

Does anyone know the outcome if I remove the small joiner between the left & right pipes on a standard 87 cane,4 into 2 exhaust? To me it seems a waste of spaceor just a good place to hide a mount. Does it actually serve any purpose?

It helps to ballance the engine for better power and smoothness.

+1 It's a balance tube, don't remove it - motor will run rough.

Balance pipes are used in many dual exhaust systems to merge sound pulses from left-hand and right-hand sources. This helps reduce harsh exhaust sounds, equalizes muffler and tail pipe life, and can aid in improving mid-range torque output of the engine. Blaa Blaa Blaa

Thanks fellas. I was hoping it was unnecessary but it looks like it's got to stay[sm=boohoo.gif]
