Harry we're bike twins mate and though the white is a pain in the **** to keep clean , I do prefer the original colours At least you can tell its clean when its clean , but if I was gonna change it would be for the grey.

Are you gonna paint them yerself mate , what type of paint you going with?

My 2 cents: Go with the original colour scheme, both on the wheels and, later on, respray the whole bike in original colours if it needs respraying. I have still not seen a Hurricane in custom paint that looks better than original colours. If you must change, use a colour scheme from another year or similar.

I vote for the black (if it would let me vote without giving me an error message [:@]). It will make the black on your fairings and tank "pop" more. You already have enough grey down low on the bike.

Hi Guys, (Happy New Year BTW)

Thanks for all the advice

I think I will go with black for this set

Hawkwind - I will get them powder coated by these guys http://www.triple-s.co.uk/they are fairly close to me (I still think of distance by Ozzie standards lol) and@ £40 a wheel you cant complain (Their work is good as well)

If I do the Carbon Look scheme on my other set then I will do it myself - Using rattle cans for the colour but with the "Secret Ingrediant" of POR 15 Glisten - its a brush on clear coat that is SUPER tough and is smooth flowing so leaves no brush marks. I KNOW how crap that sounds but I have used it before (I used to be into the VW Scene) and it is AMAZING stuff

http://www.frost.co.uk/item_Detail.asp?productID=8775

I have never used it over an acrylic before - but POR advise me that there will not be a problem.

For the carbon effect you lay down a coat of dark silver then cover with Dry Wall tape (Sorry I dont know what it is called here in the UK - I did find some in B&Q though) it is the tape you join plaster board with. Then you spray your black over the top (OR vice versa depending on your preferance)

I found details for the technique on some modeling sites (That plastic models not naked ladies lol)

Hi Steve (HtH)

Thanks for the write up on the paint job - very intriguing.

Re powder coat on wheels - is there a problem of preparing the chips before powder-coating applied?

Hope you postsome close up photos of the results anddo a photo "HOW TO" when you go ahead with the second set.

Enjoy your winter mate!!

Gunmetal Grey would be my choice if you leave the underneath color grey/silver.
