I did the same thing, I'm just glad it was the bolt that sheared off and not the threads in the head that gave way. Now I have 8 spare bolts and seals standing by for the next time.

I always habe spare to cope with metal fatigue...

Thumbs up valve springs

Hi,

Speaking from experience - it wasn't the clearance that got tigh or loose until the valve spring weakened! Then #3 cylinder started running irregularly on a run home for 120 miles.

Stripped the cover off and re-set all clearances - turned the motor over and #3 was out on its clearances.
Off with the head!

Several £s later - new (upgraded) valves, new springs, gas flowed & polished ports

Summary - check springs if your clearances are not staying within tolerance.
