Default Vacuum pipe/ petcock hose.

Hi guys.
1989 model FK.( Doesn’t have fuel pump model).
Would you be able to tell me the pipe to and from fuel tank location.
Under the fuel tank there are two pipe outlets: 1 big one 8/10 mm point down which I know is spillage into the rubber cup under tank.

The other tank pipe (with rubber tube )is small diameter 4/5mm pointing down wards as well. Now, this connects to the petcock , there are two small outlets of the petcock ( +large fuel pipe outlet). Does this rubber pipe connect to the outlet pipe pointing downwards which is part of the petcock, or the rear most facing petcock pipe .

Apart from that it’s running well silky smooth.😀

Thank you.

Having a look at this schematic
https://www.bike-parts-honda.com/hon...F__1500/2/2313
I think the downward facing pipe is for the vacuum, so would think that it would be the rearmost outlet.

Hi thanks .
So firstly petcock: As I see it: 1 outlet for fuel to carbs…big hose
Then one smaller out let facing rearwards has smaller hose that goes to carbs via a sleeve.
Then another outlet still on the petcock has a downwards pointing spigot, Question is , is this an outlet or a blind casting .
And where does the smaller hose from under tank outlet go.
I’ll send pics shortly

Here’s the petcock outlet.
Circled in red is the unknown. Is it just a breather at the point.
As for the fuel tank: That smaller pipe does this just go to ground?
Thank you.

Hmm not sure. You appear to have the fuel and vacuum pipes fitted correctly and its running fine so all good there, I think the other tank pipe is just a drain and not sure on the petcock. Hopefully one of the guys with a 1000 or have had one will have specific knowledge on that should be along soon to give you a better answer.
Sorry can be of any further help.

I’ve looked through archived post, but all details unfortunately omit those queries I’m enquiring about…..let’s see.

middle downward port on petcock is for atmospheric reference. This is pressure side of petcock diaphragm that pushes plunger open when vacuum is applied to petcock. This port should be open to atmosphere. Many bikes have hose that connects there and run upwards and backwards over carbs and just dangles open end. This is to prevent water or debris from entering port and clogging it.

Excellent, star chap. That clears it all up. As having the tank off the bike for a while it was clarity over my own doubts.

Thank you.
