Default vacuum fuel tap

hi all, couldnt think of a bunch of more helpful guys to help with my dilema..my fuel tap wont let fuel through basically...after stripping and investicating was found that the diaphram was the problem ( cb1300 by the way )..the price of a new tap is way out and the fixing kit isnt much better.. i have been told that i can just take the diaphram out and fuel will flow freely ( it does )...my tank has 2 other breather pipes on it...does anyone know if this will affect the running or damage in anyway..grateful for any help thanks...

If it flows, then it would probably be fine. You're right, a new one is around $100 if I recall. I would make sure you really get in the habbit of turning off the fuel each time you stop and turn off your engine. Just as a precaution.

Unfortunately, they don't have that model here in the US. I can't look to see if there is better pricing for one. The one on my 94 1000F is $107, plus shipping. I haven't been able to find any online Honda Parts Microfiche sites. They all seem to be US models. If I had a part number, you could search through US locations for better pricing. At least something to think about. Is that pricing in pounds sterling ? I'm not familiar with the £ symbol.

Remember to switch off your tap when you park the old girl - she may leak fuel if you don't......
It's happened before ..............
