I actually am in the process of moving away from the battleaxe. Mine came with a set. Not a bad tire, but I go too fast to be riding on R speed ratings. I just got a new rear, getting a new front in a couple weeks when I get paid again. I went with the Pirelli Sport Demon 150/70/R17 with a V speed rating (up to 149). Wanted to go Michellin Pilot but they didn't have them in stock.Anyway, I had my Battleaxes up to 125 several times, and a sustained 120 for a few miles, and just did a 600 mile weekend where the average was around 95, and they have help up fine. Just finally wore that back tire almost bald. Hope you enjoy them.

I've done 87k miles on mine and have tried pretty much every tire brand on the market. Differences between them seem to be quite small (sports touring tyres - I do too much mileage for sports tyres). I usually get around 7k miles form a set. The ones I prefer now are Avon AV45/46 ST. They have really deep tread that lets them have slightly softer rubber for better grip but still with a good life. You can get tyres cheap from lots of places, but I can recommend www.bikesparesonline.co.uk who have been fast and reliable for me over th years.

Too bad about the rain. Been raining here constantly, too. Usually this time of year we haven't had rain in a month and won't for a couple more months, but this year has been nothing but wet. Figures as soon as I get a bike. But, when there is sun, I am riding it like I stole it!

If the weather is good this weekend i hope to go for a ride to see some friends in Mundubbera around 400k each way. Abit of twisty and a lot of straight road.

I did 860k on the weekend 2up and a load of gear the tyres work well in fast turns. Where i think they were better than the Michelin'si had on before was in tight turns the bike seems to lay over more. The bike still has a head shake at 70k when i let go of the bars and a shimmy when i lay right down to the right? It seems to have plenty of grip which i found out with a hard brake stop when a kangaroo wonted my piece of road. The misses **** her self as it went past her left peg. Hopefully i will get at least 8000k out of them.Travailing backup through Mt Mee there was the regular bike crash at the top on the Daguilar side thay seem to hit the bank in the first turn whitch is not as tight as the next turn.

Where'd you get your tyres from. I live in BrisVegas and need a new rear tyre for my 87. I heard there was shop called Two Wheel Tyres out past Ipswich who does a good deal.
I reckon heading home via Wivenhoe Dam and coming in the back way over Mt Glorious would be a good way to test out the new tyre.
Did you look at fitting a 150 rear tyre. I find getting the power to the ground when giving it a hand full out of a corner is always a challenge as the rear wants to let go.

Why would you want a 150 on the back? The best is the 170!!! It handles like a dream on my 92!!!
I found that it is not to wide and not to thin!! That is the size HONDA made the bike with!!!
