Default Tube under the tank

Sorry for the pesky posts but the bike is new to me and I want to learn. I lifted my tank today and a bunch of nasty water came spilling out of a tube that runs from the middle of under the tank to under the bike. What is that tube for? I also noticed that the tube is kinked when the tank is down, is this supposed to be that way?, or should it be replaced?

I'm attempting to put on a new chain and sprockets tomorrow, wish me luck.

Thanks, Matt

Why not replace the rear wheel bearings at the same time - not a big job and cheap.............

Thanks for the replies!! I will replace the tube when I get a chance for it is rock hard.
As for the chain and sprocket, I replcaed the sprockets but the chain needs to be shortened and I have to borrow a chain breaker from a buddy to finish the job. The bearings were A ok upon inspection.

Haha! I don't think I have one on mine, either. I'm pretty sure I ripped it off once in a fit of rage.

Hey Matt, is this the tube that goes in the middle of the carbs and is clamped there? If so, that is the overflow tube for the tank. Something tells me somebody put a tube directly on the tank (supposed to be a gap, look at service manual page 5-3)

That would explain the kinks - there's an overflow inlet built into the top of my carbs........

As posted by MALBOJAH. " that is the overflow tube for the tank. Something tells me somebody put a tube directly on the tank (supposed to be a gap, look at service manual page 5-3)"

This photo might help.
