I'm getting a new bike!
Well, I mentioned a while back that I was looking at getting a newer bike. I was considering a 954 or a ZX12 and had decided on a 954. I had it narrowed down to 3-4 that were for sale around here.
Then I went to the bike show in Toronto the first week of December.
After sitting on just about everything in the place and ruling out several bikes just because of their ergonomics, I sat on the BMW S1000RR. And sat. Then sat some more. Then went away, came back and sat again. I did have to wait at one point for all the sales guys from Ducati (that I had just been talking about an 1198 with) finished sitting on her.
My wife was with me and she told me that if I didn't put money down on one, she was gonna do it for me. So, I put a deposit down. I should be taking delivery in March of an Acid Green S1 with ABS, traction control and shift assist (standard on the Canuck models).
I'm NOT selling my Hurricane. Also, if I don't find some money somewhere, I may bail out of the deal but at this point I've rationalized it as an early 50th birthday present to myself.

The S1000r is too much bike for me. But I'd love to get one just to set in the driveway a year or two for when I'm ready

"Here are 10 extravagent presents for men this Christmas, starting with the BMW S1000RR, the model that will finally dispel the brand's image as the motorcycle of choice for boring cruiser riders. There is only one S1000RR in the country at the moment, so getting it under the tree before December 25 might require a certain premuim on the $21,900 list price."
