Default Troubleshoot advice - 96 ZX6

Guys,
A friend of mine has a 96 ZX-6R that's been sitting outside for a few years and hasn't been going in about 3 years. Prior to that it went fine. He bought it over and I put a new battery in it. Ignition works fine. When I hit the starter all I get is the fuel pump clicking away but nothing at the starter motor. Is there a fuse or a relay that may be kaput that I can check before I go to far into it. The battery is fine. There's no problem there. I've removed the tank and drained the old fuel out which surprisingly smelt very strong. In any case I will drain it and flush it out just to be sure. First things first though I want to get the thing turning over before I attempt to get it starting and hopefully running.

I'd appreciate any advice. I'm not brilliant with electrical stuff. Cheers and thanks in advance.

Earths and fuses Bordo,

Start with the fuses, they can be main fuse by the battery then a box marked Fuses either near the battery or under the rear seat. Make sure all the fuses are sound, clean terminals and seated properly, then migrate to the earths.

Check starting between each job.

Then I'd be looking at relays.

If you can find a manual online and download it.

Found this one for you

Download button is the green button top right (other one will take you where you do not want to go!)

Cheers, SB
