Here we go swing arm bearings and Re-spray or powercoat
The swing arm on my 1989 CBF1000F needs new coat of paint ....Now talking to the local power coat shop . who gave me a good price. they will glass blast and power coat to what ever color . but I will need to remove all the bearings ????
The bearings are fine . so the other option is to respray ..
If I power coat . bearings will need to come out .i dont have a tool so I bet they wont be any good to refit after i take them out .
So do I replace the bearings . which are fine and power coat
or
just remove the swing arm and paint ... what paint would you recommend .
Guidance and help is and always will be welcome ...
cost of new bearings and power coat V's just respray cost ?

Spraying is never going to last as well as powder coating. I resprayed mine about 2 years ago and it needs doing again, I sprayed it because I didn't want to remove the bearings.
Down to you in the end, I don't know how long powder coating would have lasted, but if you don't mind removing the swing-arm once a year to re-paint it it's an option.
Oh BTW I used a paint we get here in the UK, called Hammerite, supposed to be able to spray it directly over rust. I cleaned the swing-arm thoroughly with a wire brush first. If you can get a tougher paint, maybe it'll last longer?

I did mine about this time last year when I replaced the top bush in my rear shock. Bearings were fine so I left them in there. I stripped the swing arm with a wire wheel in a drill, primed it then resprayed it silver straight out of the can. I am replacing my rear shock with a new Wilbers unit in a few weeks and am thinking about respraying the swingarm again but can't decide on a different colour yet. My advice would be is if the bearings are ok just respray the swingarm. Cheers.

just done mine as well, but as the swinger was out and £30 for new bearings i replaced them, like its been said spraying doesnt last as long, i rubbed mine down with a wire wheel, painted it with krust (rust convertor) rubbed it down with fine sandpaper, primed, silver and laqured all in halfords paint, we will see how long it lasts, you can remove and replace the bearings with out a blind puller but take care, you can get them off ebay quite cheapish, i use mine for everything.
