You will se me more often now that everything has setlled down at home, my father in law has passed away and i will miss him dearly, he was a seco n nd father to me after mine died when i was 29, i am now 47.

Ok for the standrad wheel,

I ran 150 size in the back when I had the original wheels on it, for the front I did not touch a thing.

When I upgrade to bigger wheels, I started with a 120 at the front and a 170in the back, I then switch to a 180m on the back and kept the 180 in the back. I felt the steering a bit slower , remember the Mk1 does have a slower sterring geometry. I will go back to a 170 for testing purposes this year and let yoo Know.

For thew clearance a 180 fits no problem without changing the swingarm.

i am back, I started weigth training back again, doing mechanical tinkeriing so getting back to speed, it is the only way to ease the loss. Tkae care of the living.

PMCG. Did you have clearance issues with the rear fender/ hugger with the 160/70? I realise the 160 is a different profile than the 140, but I have little room on the sides of my fender (10mm). I have Battlax BT45's now. Are you not running the fender? Not an option for me on the Wet (West) Coast where I don't tan, I rust! Thanks for the input!

 

I measured some Michelin pilot Road 2 160/60/17 in a shop today and can't see how they wont rub the hugger!!!

Anyone tried these tyres?

I got the bike with a 160 on it and no hugger. I m rebuilding it now and would like to replace the hugger but am not there yet. I'll let you know.

 

Just asmall point. It is easy to fit a 92 nd later inner fender to the 87-88, I have done so in about hasf an hour and I think Indy did the same mod that I did.. I am now looking for a hugger to see if I can modify it for a 170-180 tire.

One last thing, original rim width on an 87-88 is ftont 2.5 and rear 3.5, yes 120 and 160 will fit But, the tire will be squeezed and you may not get the profile that the tire was originally intented. It might work it migh caused problems you don't want to have at speed. for the front stick with the 110 for now and for the rear don't go over 150. If you want bigger tire I recommend getting bigger wheels, they are asy to find and many nodels from honda will fit.
