Default Timing is everything...right?

I saw an ad on Craigslist for a 88 Hurricane in desperate need of a new home. It was pretty trashed and the guy clearly had no respect for the old girl. Went to pull the trigger on it and someone who obviously was pretty informed beat me to it.

Now the kicker.

$800.00

I was heartbroken.

Beat-up 87/88's go pretty cheap over here as well, I get tempted, but I don't have the time for a project.

To be honest, it's nearly always cheaper to buy a bike that's been restored/looked after, than to restore one yourself.

You have to do it for the love of the project. I have no heating in my garage, so I'm not going to freeze to death doing it in the winter and in the summer I just want to ride

Mechanical bits are pretty simple to source ... it's the plastics that take the time and effort on the Gen 1's ... it took me over 9 months to track down a screen and a pair of original mirrors.... and I'm now fairly accomplished in the art of plastic welding as good condition original plastics are almost impossible to find!

Good Luck with your search ... definately worth looking for a nice, original one .... mine always draws a few folks at bike meets that remember them from their youth.

If it's not meant to be, let it be....many fishes in the sea. Good luck hunting...you may find a better one...
